What We Do
1
International
Communications Infrastructure
Public, private and hybrid.
From assisting in the upgrade to DAB / HDTV to complete Hybrid Fibre Copper (HFC) network provisioning, our highly experienced engineers complete comprehensive end to end processes throughout the surveying, planning, provisioning and maintaining phase.
Over the course of the projects we have worked on, we have been accredited, amongst others, by Arqiva, Openreach and Virgin Media.
Our engineers have vast experience with installing & maintaining HFC, CATV, Cat5e/6, Fibre Optic and PSTN networks.
We utilise a number of different types of test equipment and also have experience in certifying new networks using JDSU, Sunrise, Trilithic 360 DSP , OTDR & IOLM, FLUKE DSX5000.
We are well prepared to work on a number of high profile projects with time critical completion dates.
All of our engineers have the relevant training, safety qualifications and experience to carry out the work, be it:
-
NRSWA (Street Works)
-
ECS or CSCS
-
Working at Height
-
Roof top working
-
Asbestos Awareness
-
IPAF
-
IRATA
-
Confined Space working
All of our team are comfortable interfacing with consumers and businesses.
On a recent and ongoing project, we engaged directly with residential / commercial tenants to explain the value and benefits that a new FttP network would enable, resulting in over a 50% take up of the new service.

Private
Landlord
Infrastructure
Cable, fibre and Wi-Fi.

Marine / Near Shore Installation
CatV & Docsis 3.1
We were asked to upgrade an existing analogue CATV network on a large fleet of cruise ships which were dry docked at various locations around the world. We advised and assisted in designing and planning their network including potential future revenue generation using the new system.
That involved installing brand new broadcast equipment and new televisions / cable modems in up to 2,500 cabins on each ship which enabled the ships to use Docsis 3.1.
The fleet and wider real estate footprint extends to 8 vessels and 1000 hotels worldwide. The work was carried out without any disruption to existing revenue streams.
We were requested by our customer to assist them in upgrading the BBC’s radio network to DAB and their broadcast services to HD television.
A team of Jtec engineers worked in close partnership with multi-faceted planning departments, and the end customer, installing new broadcast equipment on time and on budget.
Well over 175 sites were visited around the UK with some of these being extremely remote and during extreme weather events.

Multiplex & Transmission Upgrades
DAB / HDTV

Digital Highway
Emergency telephone phone / average speed camera upgrade.
We supported a national infrastructure project to upgrade parts of the UK Highways network.
We installed a copper and fibre network along the hard shoulders of the A14 and M11 to improve and guarantee future connectivity of the emergency telephone network (copper), average speed cameras and overhead gantry signs (fibre).
This work was completed within the time scales set by the Highways Agency and without incident.
The next phase of the industrial revolution is just around the corner. New and old technologies, when combined, are opening up innovation to ever more intelligent ways of working.
Instrumented infrastructure connected to Low Power Wide Area Networking (LPWAN) meshes will allow consumers, businesses, local and central government to make much better and more informed choices. These will extend beyond just data collection and could be utilised to capture, understand and then reinforce our learning and apply it to the systems we use to manage operations.
LPWAN gateways and nodes reduce the power requirements needed to send a small amount of data over hundreds of kilometres. In some recent testing, we were able to reach Dublin in Ireland from the top of Mount Snowdon in Wales (135km link path), whilst simultaneously hitting multiple gateways in Manchester in England (130km link path). The gateways are small in size and have next to no loading effect on transmission or tower sites. They can be installed and maintained very easily.

IoT & Fog Computing
Gateway and node delpoyment.
